The trails at Waterdog are stable and resilient

With current recreational use, the park abounds with finch, towhees, quail, deer, bobcats, wild turkeys, rabbits, lizards, woodrats, snakes, and, yes, waterdogs! These animals have adapted to human uses of Waterdog for over 100 years. There is no crisis here; the ecosystem of the park has been in a steady state for decades. Don’t fall for the false narrative of others looking to weaponize environmentalism as a means to kick cyclists, runners, and other active users out of the park. These narratives serve only to destroy community and pit neighbor against neighbor.

Mountain bikers have been leaders in protecting and preserving Waterdog

Did you know that most of the trails we enjoy at Waterdog Open Space were originally built by and have been maintained by our strong community of mountain bikers for over 30 years? Cyclists are the main contributors to trail work at Waterdog, donating over 500 hours of trail work per year.

We are friends of Waterdog Open Space. This is a community of hikers, dog walkers, joggers, and cyclists enjoying the open space, respectful of one another and the wildlife that abounds. It is a place of joy. Waterdog is a testament to successful multi-use open space serving the public good.
